NOTE: Previous couples tournaments have only included three rounds of golf and were priced at five nights, with a complimentary sixth night added on. This fall’s tournament has the “complimentary night” priced into the six night package and includes four rounds of golf. Transfers to/from Belmont Hills and Riddell’s Bay golf courses are NOT included, however, transfers to/from Port Royal Golf Course via the resort’s shuttle van are included.

REQUIREMENTS:
Accommodations are subject to space availability. Participants must stay at the Pompano Beach Club in order to play in the tournament. Call the resort’s U.S. sales office toll-free (from the U.S. and Canada) at 1-800-343-4155 to reserve accommodations. An $860 per couple advance deposit is required to reserve accommodations and a place in the tournament. Deposits are payable by credit card or check (made payable to the “Pompano Beach Club”). The resort accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards.
Entry forms (which can be found inside the tournament brochure) should be faxed (508-358-7711) or mailed to the resort’s Boston area sales office, c/o Bermuda Hotel Representatives, 231 Boston Post Road, P.O. 5th ANNUAL FALL COUPLES GOLF CLASSIC
The Pompano Beach Club will be hosting its 5th Annual Fall Couples Golf Classic from November 1 - 7, 2009. Twenty-five couples competed in the fall 2007 classic and twenty-one couples participated last fall. Tournament slots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.

TOURNAMENT
FORMAT:
- participants maximum handicap: ladies 36, gentlemen 24 (team handicap will be half of the two combined handicaps). Proof of handicap index is required upon registration. Handicaps will be used in all four tournament rounds.
- each team will consist of one lady and one gentleman
- rules of the Royal and Ancient Club of St. Andrews and the United States Golf Association will apply.
- the event consists of four individual tournament rounds, with golf to take place at
three of Bermuda’s top courses – Riddell’s Bay, Belmont Hills and Port Royal. – tournament round formats:
- the tournament’s first round will be a best ball format.
- the tournament’s second round will be a modified best ball format.
- the tournament’s third round will be a Pinehurst mixed foursomes format.
- the tournament’s final round will be a two-person scramble format.
- prizes will be awarded to the overall winners in the low gross and low net divisions and to the winners of each individual tournament round.
- longest drive and closest to the pin contests will be held on each of the tournament days.
- the golf tournament will be run by Alex Madeiros, who currently oversees the Bermuda Goodwill Golf Tournament (Bermuda’s most prestigious annual golf event). Alex has run Pompano’s Couples Tournaments for many years.
- in the event of a tie for first place, a sudden death playoff will determine thewinner.
INDIVIDUAL
TOURNAMENT ROUND FORMATS:
- The tournament’s first round (to be played at Port Royal Golf Course) will be a best ball format. Both players will each play their own shots all the way through. Their team score for each hole will be the lower of their two scores on that particular hole. The team with the lowest net total score after eighteen holes will be declared the winner of this particular tournament round.
- The tournament’s second round (to be played at Belmont Hills Golf Course) will be a modified best ball format. Both players will hit drives from their respective tees and will choose the better of their two drives to hit their next shots from. They will then play their own shots all the way through. Each couple must use the lady’s drive on at least two holes on each nine. Also, each player will play their own ball from drive to finish on each of the par threes. Their team score for each hole will be the lower of their two scores on that particular hole. The team with the lowest net total score after eighteen holes will be declared the winner of this particular tournament round.
- The tournament’s third round (to be played at Riddell’s Bay Golf Course) will be a Pinehurst mixed foursomes format. Both players will hit drives from their respective tees. Both players then play a second shot, however, the lady hits the ball which her partner teed off with, and vice versa. The team then selects either ball (and picks up the other ball). Partners play every other shot until the ball is holed. The team with the lowest net total score after eighteen holes will be declared the winner of this particular round.
- The tournament’s final round (to be played at Port Royal Golf Course) will be a two person scramble format. Both players will hit drives from their respective tees. They will choose the better of their two drives and hit their next shots from that particular lie (continuing the same procedure until their balls are holed). The team with the lowest net total score after eighteen holes will be declared the winner of this particular tournament round.
