4th Annual Fall Couples Golf Classic
OCTOBER 27 - nOVEMBER 1, 2008
The
Pompano Beach Club will be hosting its 4th Annual Fall Couples Golf Classic
from October 27 - November 1, 2008. Twenty-two couples competed in the
October 2006 classic and twenty-five couples participated last October.
Tournament slots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
TOURNAMENT
FORMAT:
- participants
maximum handicap: ladies 36, gentlemen 24 (team handicap will be half
of the two combined handicaps). Proof of handicap index is required
upon registration. Handicaps will be used in all three tournament rounds.
- each
team will consist of one lady and one gentleman
- rules
of the Royal and Ancient Club of St. Andrews and the United States Golf
Association will apply.
- the
event consists of three individual tournament rounds, with golf to take
place at three of Bermuda's top courses - Riddell's Bay, Belmont Hills
and Tucker's Point.
- tournament
round formats (with handicaps used in all three tournaments):
- the
tournament's first round will be a best ball format.
- the
tournament's second round will be a modified best ball format.
- the
tournament's final round will be a two-person scramble format.
- prizes
will be awarded to the overall winners in the low gross and low
net divisions and to the winners of each individual tournament round.
- longest
drive and closest to the pin contests will be held on each of the
tournament days.
- the
golf tournament will be run by Alex Madeiros, who currently oversees
the Bermuda Goodwill Golf Tournament (Bermuda's most prestigious annual
golf event). Alex has run Pompano's Couples Tournaments the past several
years.
- in
the event of a tie for first place, a sudden death playoff will determine
the winner.
INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT ROUND FORMATS:
1)
The tournament's first round (to be played at Belmont Hills Golf Course)
will be a best ball format. Both players will each play their own shots
all the way through. Their team score for each hole will be the lower
of their two scores on that particular hole. The team with the lowest
net total score after eighteen holes will be declared the winner of
this particular tournament round.
2)
The tournament's second round (to be played at Tucker's Point Golf Course)
will be a modified best ball format. Both players will hit drives from
their respective tees and will choose the better of their two drives
to hit their next shots from. They will then play their own shots all
the way through. Each couple must use the lady's drive on at least two
holes on each nine. Also, each player will play their own ball from
drive to finish on each of the par threes. Their team score for each
hole will be the lower of their two scores on that particular hole.
The team with the lowest net total score after eighteen holes will be
declared the winner of this particular tournament round.
3) The tournament's final round (to be played at Riddell's Bay Golf
Course) will be a two person scramble format. Both players will hit
drives from their respective tees. They will choose the better of their
two drives and hit their next shots from that particular lie (continuing
the same procedure until their balls are holed). The team with the lowest
net total score after eighteen holes will be declared the winner of
this particular tournament round.

October 27th - opening night Rum Swizzle party at the Pompano Beach
Club (6:30 - 7:30pm)
Tuesday
October 28th - tournament first round play at Belmont Hills Golf Course
(best ball format) - morning tee times
Wednesday
October 29th - tournament second round play at Tucker's Point Golf
Course (modified best ball format) - morning tee times
Thursday
October 30th - tournament final round play at Riddell's Bay Golf Course
(two person scramble format) - 12:30pm shotgun start
Friday
October 31st - free day
- final night cocktail party and prize ceremony at the
Pompano Beach Club (5:30 - 6:30pm)

SPECIAL
INCENTIVE:
As an extra incentive , anyone who books a tournament package by October
1, 2008, will receive an extra night free (to be taken on either the night
of Sunday October 26th or Saturday November 1st). The extra night will
include the same oceanview room as the one chosen in the tournament package,
breakfast the following morning and the nightly service charge and tax.
Dinner is not included with the complimentary night.
TOURNAMENT
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Accommodations are subject to space availability. Participants must
stay at the Pompano Beach Club in order to play in the tournament. Call
the resort's U.S. sales office toll-free (from the U.S. and Canada) at
1-800-343-4155 to reserve accommodations. A $990 per couple advance deposit
is required to reserve accommodations and a place in the tournament. Deposits
are payable by credit card or check (made payable to the "Pompano
Beach Club"). The resort accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express
credit cards.

forms (which can be found inside the tournament brochure) should be faxed
